Jewelry Tips For the Bridal Party

contributed by Gabriel Stiller

It is very usual to find that would be brides have thought of everything to the last detail except the bridal jewelry for the bridal entourage. You may wonder why that is so important but can you imagine a bridal party that has perfectly co-coordinated shoes, dresses, hair and hats but mismatched jewelry!

For jewelry, the rule of the thumb is the less the better. Keep the ornaments simple but elegant. It goes without saying that the jewelry worn by the bridal party should not overpower the bride’s finery. All eyes should be on the bride and the bride party should form a well-coordinated but subtle backdrop. This is why the jewelry for the bridal entourage should be understated and simple.

The jewelry worn by the bridal party should keep to the main theme of the wedding. For instance, if your theme for the wedding revolves around the ocean, you may want the bridal jewelry to be made of pearls. The bride could wear the more elaborate pieces while the rest of the bridal party could wear thin, delicate strings of pearls etc. Similarly, if you are having a beach wedding, you could get your bridal party to wear shell jewelry or pretty floral jewelry.

Apart from necklaces the bridal jewelry could also include bracelets, brooches, tiaras and earrings. Whatever you choose, should match. So don’t try to mix and match and opt for pearl earrings to go with a blue stone necklace. The rule of the thumb here is that the earrings, necklace, bracelet and anything else that the bridal party may wear should all have the same accent. Mix and match ornaments destroy the theme and take away from what the bride is wearing.

The bridal jewelry need not always be made from precious metals or precious stones. You could use a variety of contemporary materials and designs that are available now to fit the jewelry into the wedding theme. Examples of such non-traditional jewelry are handcrafted designs, gothic or even tribal jewelry. You could also get a local jewelry designer who specializes in handcrafted jewelry to custom-design the bridal jewelry to match the theme of your wedding. This would not only make the jewelry as per your specifications but also be a great keepsake for all those on your bridal party. You can use any other innovative idea that you can think of to personalize the jewelry. Just keep in mind however that whatever bridal jewelry you select, it should not outshine the jewelry worn by the bride!

Best place to buy veils and tiaras? For Wedding?

contributed by BUBBLES

I bought my dress on clearance at David’s bridal…. so I am not about to blow $200 on a veil from them! I have been looking around, online and different stores…. but it’s hard to tell the quality until you actually get it. Can anyone recommend a place or someone they really liked?? I am looking of an ivory veil- just a one to hang behind me…. longer then shoulder lenght… and drops pretty straight…no puffy stuff. And a large (tall) rhinestone princess/queen type tiara. Can be from 2 totally different places…
