Reception Brunches
Morning weddings are not as common as they used to be. There was a time that an 11 o’clock ceremony was very typical, but now you see more late afternoon and evening weddings. However, a morning wedding can be very lovely, and a great way to follow it is with a reception brunch.
A wedding held in the morning can be large or small and held in a church, a garden, or a home. A wedding at this hour will not be as formal as an evening or late afternoon service, which might be a perfect reason to have a morning wedding. The bride can still wear a long gown, but she should skip the cathedral length train and massive princess tiara. A better choice would be a romantic gown embellished with lace worn with pearl bridal jewelry. Pearl bridal jewelry is perfect for daytime; save the opulent crystal bridal jewelry for an evening wedding. The groom can either wear a suit or a morning coat, which is the most formal daytime attire.
After the ceremony, the guests can adjourn to a brunch. Depending on the size and elegance of your wedding, the reception can vary greatly. For a small wedding, say thirty guests, you could host the brunch in a private room in a restaurant. If the restaurant normally serves a Saturday morning brunch, guests may even be able to order off of the menu, which would certainly make things easy. (This is assuming a church wedding; if the ceremony was not in a church, Sunday would also work very well.)
Larger weddings will need more space than a private dining room can provide. Most of the usual types of reception venues would be great for a brunch. Country clubs, tents, and gardens would all be lovely settings. Keep the decorations appropriate for the morning or early afternoon. White, ivory, and pastels will look better than dark brown or black accents. Light and bright colors like yellow, sky blue, spring green, and pink can also be considered.
If you are having a brunch, you may want an abbreviated cocktail period, given the early hour. A brief time for guests to mingle and find their seats before the meal is useful, but limit it to about 45 minutes. You could serve brunch drinks like mimosas, Bloody Marys, and white wine spritzers, along with small bites such as mini cinnamon rolls and baby quiches.
For the brunch itself, consider a buffet or serving stations to allow guests to make their own meal choices. Think about how much people love a brunch buffet on a holiday or special occasion. Ideas for the menu include: an omelet station, a carving station with roast beef, turkey, and ham, and favorites like Eggs Benedict and Belgian waffles. You will also want to offer hash browns, bacon and sausage, grilled vegetables, and fresh fruit. Finish it off with a pastry table, and of course wedding cake One of the best reasons to have a brunch reception is the cost. At that early hour, guests will definitely consume less alcohol, and the caterer will charge less for the brunch than a dinner. You also have the option of keeping the reception shorter, which might reduce the venue fee. A brunch reception could have a full session of dancing after the meal, but it does not have to. It would be equally nice to have instrumental music during the meal, and then maybe just a spotlight dance for the newlyweds.
A daytime wedding can be very lovely and sweet. If you decide on a morning ceremony, a tasty brunch would be the perfect choice for your reception. And just think, you will be done with the reception early enough to spend a romantic evening alone with your new spouse!

If i wore my hair like this for my wedding, would my tiara and veil fit properly on my head? I know alot of women wear their hair in an updo, and makes the tiara and veil look amazing, but my hair is too short to pull up, so i’m going to settle for this exact style. Will i be able to pull it off with my tiara and veil?
